MORE than £2,500 has been raised for the family of a much-loved nurse from Oldbury who died in a crash on the M6.

Victoria Kavanagh was killed when the car she was driving was involved in a crash with two lorries on the motorway in the Black Country last month.

Now, her heartbroken best friend Rebecca Lockley has launched a Go Fund Me page to raise £2,500 for Victoria's funeral costs and to help her two children Daniel and Katrina.

Rebecca launched the page on July 31 and within five days it has exceeded her target of £2,500, so far raising £2,554.

The friends met while studying for a degree in children's nursing at the University of Wolverhampton, before graduating last year.

Victoria had since been working for the NHS and had recently been accepted onto a Master's course.

Paying tribute to her much-loved friend, Rebecca said: "As soon as we started talking that was it, it was like we had always known each other. Our friendship grew from there.

"Being on such an intense course you go through something that you and others on the course can only understand.

"We were always on the phone to each other if anything happened, if we had any gossip in our lives. I could trust her with my life and knew she would do anything for me and my family. My daughter soon became fond of Vicky and especially her daughter and from that she became auntie Vicky.

"She was just one of those people that never judged and you could be yourself. She was so kind and so selfless, nothing was ever too much.

"She was an absolute amazing person and a fantastic nurse."

Victoria was set to be Rebecca's maid of honour next year and was getting ready to study for a Master's degree in Public Health.

In a statement, her family said: "Victoria was a loving mother and daughter and a friend to everyone she met.

“She will leave behind a massive hole in our lives and will be forever missed."

Donors on the Go Fund Me page have described Victoria as an "amazing mother and daughter" and a "lovely person".

Police are continuing to investigate the crash, which happened on the M6 between Wednesbury and Walsall just before 9am on July 27.

DC Damian Gibson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A woman has tragically lost her life and we are doing everything to piece together the moments leading to her death.

"We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or with dashcam footage to contact us."

They are urging anyone with information to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at West Midlands Police.
