“I WILL fight for the Alex’s fair share of the £20.5billion for the NHS.”

That’s the message from Redditch MP Rachel Maclean, as the Prime Minister launches the NHS Long Term Plan.

On Monday, the Prime Minister launched the plan which aims to provide the NHS with unprecedented certainty to plan for the next decade, meaning patients in Redditch and across the UK will be supported with world-class healthcare at every stage of their life.

The plan is backed up by the Conservative Government’s investment of £20.5billion a year in real terms by 2023-24 – the biggest NHS cash boost in history.

The 136-page plan will see money shifted from hospitals to mental health and the community focusing on prevention and early detection.

GPs, mental health and community care will get the biggest funding increases to shift the focus away from hospitals.

Prime Minister Theresa May hailed the launch of the plan as a "truly historic moment".

Mrs Maclean said: “The NHS has always been there for me and my family, as I know it has been for all my constituents.

"The Long Term Plan will ensure our NHS will continue to provide outstanding care to us all in our time of need.

“I received hundreds of letters and emails from constituents calling on the Government to increase funding to the NHS.

"I put their case to Health Ministers on numerous occasions and I’m glad the Government has listened."

She added: “As the MP for Redditch, it’s my job to get the best for our town and for the Alex.

"I will fight for the Alex’s fair share of the £20.5billion for the NHS which will help secure the future of our hospital.

"Be in no doubt, the Alex has a bright future with new services opening and investment going into it.

"I will ensure this continues.”
