RESIDENTS of Redditch are invited to take part in a free session with the UK's largest contemporary choir, Rock Choir.

Rock Choir is an award winning national band with almost 30,000 currently involved across the country.

It is said the choir offer an alternative to traditional choirs and have an ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit, along with inclusive and accessible teaching to its members.

Local Rock Choir leader Christa Hugo said: “My choir members tell me time and time again what a difference joining Rock Choir has made to their wellbeing.

"We offer a multi-layered life-affirming experience which uses music at its core and results in joy and friendship. It’s wonderful to see the positive impact that joining Rock Choir has on people’s lives and how it helps them cope with life’s challenges.

"I’d like to invite anyone who hasn’t tried Rock Choir before to come along and enjoy what is on offer; for everyone to feel good, well and happy.

"Targeting our mental health issues and finding healthy solutions is key and we can offer one solution and that is Rock Choir.”

A recent experiment conducted by BBC’s ‘Trust Me I’m a Doctor’ proved that Rock Choir members experienced a dramatic rise of 40% in endocannabinoids, the ‘happy’ chemicals released in our brain, after taking part in a Rock Choir session.

Local Rock Choir members performed at Primrose Hospice's first ever Santa Run at Arrow Valley Lake, in Redditch and Rock Choir recently experienced a No.1 chart position in the iTunes Christmas chart with their contemporary arrangement of The First Noel/Silent Night in aid of music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.
