THERE is no better time to own a record shop, according to local businesswoman, Ros Sidaway, who this Saturday is celebrating the fourth anniversary of opening her retro vinyl emporium, Vintage Trax, on Birchfield Road in Headless Cross.

4.2 million vinyl records were sold in the UK in 2018, an increase of 100,000 or 1.6 per cent from the year before.

However, that figure does not include sales of second hand vinyl sold through record shops and fairs, car boot sales, charity stores and of course on line.

If it did, the quantity would most likely be double that.

And though there are several stores selling new vinyl releases, Vintage Trax is the only physical record shop in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area selling quality, pre-loved vinyl albums and 45s.

“It’s not just the local area we serve,” said Ros.

“We have customers regularly coming from the Birmingham area, Warwickshire, the South West and Wales, and London. We even have people from around the UK and overseas, visiting the John Bonham memorial in Redditch town centre who come up to the shop too.”

To celebrate the fourth anniversary, Ros will be hosting a day of music, special offers, giveaways and of course, a wide range of quality pre-loved vinyl records, cassettes and CDs.

The celebration runs from 11am to 4.30pm with light refreshments (including cake) available to customers throughout the day.
