KIDDERMINSTER Golf Club has been plunged into crisis after a mass exodus from their committee.

A letter sent to members reveals the club are facing an ‘unprecedented’ situation where all but one of the current officers are stepping down because of a variety of personal reasons.

Members are being urged to put themselves forward for positions such as captain, vice-captain, president, treasurer as well as five positions on the committee.

The retiring officers have nominated a potential new president, while the current treasurer is prepared to stay on if a replacement is not found.

But he would have to juggle it with business commitments which would put a severe limitation on the time he can devote to the club.

To fill the void left by the departures, the directors of Kidderminster Golf Club Limited have been forced to assume responsibility in the short term under the rules of the club’s constitution.

Players are being asked to submit their nominations in a bid to replenish the governing body’s ranks.

The letter states: “This is a situation which is not welcomed by directors and it is undoubtedly in the interests of the members that a viable and enthusiastic captain and committee are elected at the forthcoming annual general meeting.

“This is a time when members are asked to consider very carefully the wider interests of Kidderminster Golf Club and its development both on and off the course and put themselves forward to be part of the future and drive its success.”

The club holds its annual general meeting on Monday, March 4, with the deadlne for nominations noon next Monday.
