CAPTAIN Jonathan Wright has urged Kidderminster Victoria to take full advantage of Himley’s woes when the two sides clash on Saturday (noon start).

KVCC make the short trip to their Black Country-based opponents, who find themselves in the bottom half of the Birmingham and District League Premier Division after just two wins in four games.

While Kidderminster go into the derby full of confidence after a comprehensive win over Barnt Green, Himley have been hit hard by a slew of injuries and retirements.

Chris Tranter and Ashfak Hussain have retired, captain Gregg Wright is battling to be fit because of a groin problem, bowler Nick Harrison is out for the season with a stress fracture and young batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore has returned to school.

Wright said: “I like Himley a lot, I’ve got a lot of time for Gregg Wright but they are a bit of a mess at the moment.

“The form we are in, I would be disappointed if we were not to get something from the game.”

While Himley are struggling, KVCC are nearly at full strength.

Batsman Matt Pardoe, who struck 88 not out against Green, misses the game because is playing for Worcestershire in LV= County Championship Division Two at Northamptonshire.

Pears duo Ben Cox and Neil Pinner are expected to be available, while bowler Gareth Williams is also back from injury.

Wright hailed the impact of Pardoe, who only makes rare appearances for KVCC because of his county responsibilties.

He said: “We are a better side with Matt playing but we’ve accepted that it’s a bonus when he does and we’re not reliant on him.

“But he applies himself the same way whether he’s playing for us or Worcestershire.”
