KIDDERMINSTER Victoria captain Jonathan Wright has praised the contribution made by Worcestershire pair Matt Pardoe and Neil Pinner.

The duo have proved pivotal in the Chester Road side’s rise to the top Birmingham League and Wright is quick to pay tribute to them.
He said: “They’re class players. Everytime we don’t clash with Worcestershire we get Matt and Neil. I can’t thank Worcestershire and Steve Rhodes enough.

“Matt now seems a regular choice in Worcestershire’s four-day side and recently made his maiden first-class century, but doesn’t seem to be in the picture for the one day stuff.
“Neil appears to have lost his place in Worcestershire’s one day side and I think he’s been a bit unlucky.
“When we sat down to plan things at the start of the season, we didn’t expect to see much of them - Having them is a real bonus.”
Wright couldn’t hide his delight in the manner which KVCC beat previous leaders Brockhampton last Saturday.
Wright said: “We were missing our regular opening bowlers Chris Whelan and Richard Kimberlin yet we bossed the game.
“Although Brockhampton set us a target of 255 to chase, I think if it had been 300, we would still have done it.”
Kidderminster travel to Wolverhampton this Saturday, who like themselves have a trio of New Road players in their ranks in Moeen Ali, Chris Russell and Aneesh Kapil.
Wright said: “It’s a place we never play well at. Danescourt is a completely different wicket to Chester Road and we’ve got to look at our approach and bat differently.
“Wolverhampton are an improving side and better than their position suggests, but we’re clear favourites to win.
“It will be a good barometer to see where we are at the moment.”
Both Whelan and Richard Kimberlin are back available leaving Wright with a full strength squad to select from.
