BEWDLEY Town’s management duo of Craig Payton and Bryan Lacey may have said a fond farewell, but they have at least one more game in charge.
The pair are stepping down at the end of the season and enjoyed an emotional goodbye on Saturday, when they watched Town finish the West Midlands League Premier with a 6-0 trouncing of Dudley Sports.
But they have at least one more match in the dug out as Town entertain Ellesmere Rangers in the League Cup quarter-finals (2pm ko) on Saturday.
Payton said: “It was a great day, we had so many people we’ve not seen watch us.
“I would like to thank my wife Jeannette and Bryan’s Deborah, without their support and understanding we could not have managed the club.”
Chris Hough, playing in his final league match, ended his career in style with a powerful brace.
Michael Hyde, Alex Lavery, Richard Costello and Fraser Hall also scored.
Meanwhile, Town’s postponed clash against Shawbury has put down as a 0-0 by the league after both clubs agreed.
