JAMIE Crump of Wyre Forest CRC continued his early season form with a second podium finish in the under-14s category at the Woolly Mamil Winter Series of circuit races at the Stourport Sports Club last Saturday.

Riding in near freezing conditions and with a stiff breeze to make conditions tougher, Crump stayed in the leading group for most of the race.

When the group split near the end his finishing sprint took him clear of the majority of the field for a well-earned third place.

At the same meeting, William Pedersen just missed the early break in a large field of under-16s riders and had to settle for leading home the chasing group for a hard fought 12th place.

The final race in the series takes place this Saturday, starting at 11:00am.

Formed in 1977, Wyre Forest CRC have grown to become one of the most diverse and successful cycling clubs in the country, recent years have seen us achieve Go Ridestatus and also the prestigious Club Mark through our national body British Cycling.

In 2010 a new purpose built 1.6 kilometre tarmac cycling circuit was built at Stourport Sports Club following their efforts which secured the backing of British Cycling and the board of SSC, the funding coming through Sport England.
