HANNAH Wilson and Jessica Atkinson were the stars of the show as members of Wyre Forest Gymnastics School did themselves proud at the West Midland British Development Plan Championships in Solihull.

Wilson and Atkinson will represent the West Midlands at the National Finals at Cocksmoor Wood Sports Centre, in Birmingham, on April 28 and 29 after finishing third and fifth in their respective groups.

There were over 160 gymnasts attempting their British Development Plan grades in last weekend's event at the North Solihull Sports Centre.

Club grades attempt four pieces of apparatus - vault, bars, beam and floor - and require a score of 40 to pass.

Wyre Forest results Grade 3: Katie Jones (aged 11) scored 40.166; Grade 4: Lilly Crook (aged 10) 42.317, Annie Richardson (aged 11) 41.334, Gracie Tapsell Smith (aged 10) 30.533.

Grade 1: Jessica Atkinson (aged 12) 46.750 5th place and distinction, Annabelle Scott (aged 12) 43.900, Pela Millard (aged 12) scored 42.683; Grade 2: Hannah Wilson (aged 12) 47.967 3rd place and bronze medal and distinction, Kathryn Deeley (aged 11) 45.833, Lydia Harrington (aged 12) 44.466, Kelly Brooks (aged 13) 40.134, Jade Hooper (aged 13) 40.100.

Members of the school were also in action at the West Midland Recreational floor and vault team competition on Sunday at Fenton Sports Centre, Stoke.

And Chelsea Hodges, Charlotte Stevens, Alice Elderton, Staci Marshall and Danielle Perrins excelled themselves with silver in the open age group, scoring 70.60.
