MARK Creighton has described Reece Styche's needless sending off against Wrexham on Tuesday night as 'stupid'.

Styche saw red for two yellow cards in as many minutes to leave Harriers down to ten men when they were already 1-0 down.

He picked up first yellow for a scuffle with the defender in the box in the 50th minute but in the 52nd Styche appeared to have recklessly caught the defender his arm and floored him.

The two yellows mean Styche will pick up a one-match ban and misses Saturday's trip to Gateshead.

"It's stupid, because he's just been booked. I thought he was lucky it wasn't a straight red because it looked as though he really swung at Manny Smith.

"Reece has said he didn't mean it and luckily it's only a second yellow so it's just a one match ban but at the end of the day he has killed us.

"There was very little in the game and we felt we could score, as we did with ten men, with 11 men it might have been a different result."

Harriers had been trailing to a Manny Smith goal in the 21st minute, after keeper Dean Snedker had missed a cross from Sean Newton.

Styche was dismissed and Newton made it 2-0 with a sublime free-kick three minutes later.

Ironically, Harriers had their best spell when pushing for a lifeline and substitute Andre Wright pulled one back with ten minutes of normal time left.

However, as the hosts pushed Wrexham substitute Adam Smith made it 3-1 in the 95th minute when he spotted Snedker off his line and beat with a deft chip.

Creighton said: "We are genuinely gutted for the boys because they have worked so hard, especially when we went down to ten men.

"There was nothing in the game, Dean Snedker has killed us a bit with his mistakes and we've told him.

"It's a shame because he has been magnificent but that's a learning curve for a young player coming into the game.

"We're saying we're unlucky but how many times do we say that until it becomes bad play?

"The one thing we can't fault the lads for is how hard we're working."
