STOURPORT Swifts continued their excellent start to the season as they hammered Brocton 5-1 to power into the preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Goals for Ben Maund (2), Joe Phillips (2) and Reece Shilvock ensured the Walshes Meadow outfit will tackle Alvechurch at home on Saturday, August 29.

Victory netted the club £1,500 in prize money.

Manager Mark Phillips said: "It's great to progress in the FA Cup and the prize money is a also a big boost.

"Unless you have a benefactor, any club at our level will need the money.

"It was a good performance and now we face Alvechurch.

"They signed a lot of players from Tividale this season, so I am expecting a tough game."

Stourport have made a fine start to the season and have won all three of their games.

They face a stiff tested on this weekend when they tackle newly-promoted Bardon Hill in Leicestershire on Saturday (3pm ko).

Phillips will have to shuffle his midfield as James Hill and James Robinson are missing this weekend.

Bardon Hill won the Midland East Counties League last season and have drawn their first two games against Walsall Wood and Coleshill.

Phillips said: "Bardon had to win the league to earn promotion, so they come battled hardened and ready for the challenge, I think they will be one of the best sides in the league. We're missing a couple of lads because of injury and holiday so I will have to look at that."
