VETERAN keeper Darren Steadman is set to come to the rescue for Bewdley Town for Saturday’s West Midlands Premier clash at Wellington.

The former Harriers shot-stopper is expected to come out of retirement because first choice Nathan Fox dislocated his elbow in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Black Country Rangers.

Manager Phil Mullen said: “We’re not sure how long Nathan will be out for so we’re glad to have Darren to call upon.

“Darren played some games for us at the end of last season and he’s still good enough.

“His experience means he can read the game and organise us well.”

Bewdley started the season with a 3-0 loss at Shifnal Town but bounced back against Rangers. When Fox went off with 20 minutes to go, Town had made all of their substitutions, so striker Jon Griffin played in goal.
