A GIRLS football club from Ferndale is calling on former players to join its new ladies team in time for next season.

Ferndale Girls FC are launching a team to play in the Kidderminster and District Women's League.

It is hoped the team will encourage a return to the club for those who stopped playing when they became too old for the junior sides.

Traditionally the club has run teams up to under-16 level, when players have had to go elsewhere to play football in an older age-group.

Paul Lacey, director of girls and ladies football, said: "I am so pleased the girls will not have to worry about ever leaving the club they have grown up with.

"The majority just like to play and have a sociable time with their friends. This is an ideal opportunity for Ferndale's girls of old to come back to the club, along with any other interested ladies."

Trials are being held on Tuesday, June 19 between 7.30pm and 9pm at Wolverley Playing fields, Mill Lane Wolverley.

Anyone wanting further information can contact ladies manager Steve Meredith on 01562 741606.
