A CENTURY by James Taylor inspired Kidderminster Victoria to an emphatic 57 run win over Moseley on Saturday in Birmingham.

The 17-year-old demonstrated his potential with an impressive performance, while overseas bowler Kevin Forde's five wicket haul played a major part in his team's victory.

Victory propelled Kidderminster into third in the Birmingham and District League Premier Division.

The home side were put into bat by the hosts and lost captain Jonathan Wright ,when he was bowled by Calum McLeod for seven runs.

When Mark Mansell became McLeod's second victim Kidderminster were reduced to 34-2, but Will Gifford and James Taylor started a fight back, steering them to 74-2 before Gifford was caught by Jason Robinson off Jay Webster.

Wicketkeeper Josh Knappett kept the run rate up with a handy 44, before Ashfak Hussain removed him, while Craig Wood's quick fire 24 runs made sure that Kidderminster reached 221-5.

Ted Baylis was bowled by McLeod for 13, while Andy Siwicki (7) was caught by Huw Jones off Hussain for seven and Matt Brace was out for one.

Taylor though kept the runs coming despite the wickets tumbling around him, making 100 runs as Kidderminster recorded 259-7. Hussain (3-94) and McLeod (3-35) were the most effective Moseley bowlers.

Moseley got their reply off to a poor start when Ian Stokes was caught at slip by Wright off Forde's delivery.

Big hitting South African Vaugh Van Jaarsveld, who smashed 179 last week, only made one run when he was caught by Forde, as Moseley were reduced to 10-2.

Ted Baylis then took two wickets, having Omar Masood caught on 22, while Knappett held onto Michael Bell for a duck.

A fifth wicket stand by Moseley frustrated Kidderminster but Forde ended their resistance when he removed Webster (34).

Wright then caught Jones (95) off Baylis' delivery to leave the Birmingham side on 181-6.

Jon Miles bowled McLeod for 23 and also had Hussain (6) caught by Mansell.

At 199-8 Moseley were fighting for a draw but Forde had other ideas and took the last two wickets, when he had Robinson caught by Knappett for two and Simon Chase out for a duck as Moseley fell short on 202 all out.

Forde (5-35), Baylis (3-56) and Miles (2-62) were the best of Kidderminster's bowlers.
