KIDDERMINSTER Victoria CC face their toughest test yet in the Cockspur National Knockout Cup at Chester Road on Sunday when they take on Leicestershire side Kibworth (1pm start).

The Chester Road side go into the game against the club which won the competition in 2004 in confident mood after seeing off Hyde in the previous round in Cheshire on Sunday.

President Norman Broadfield is expecting a good sized crowd to watch the club's biggest cup game in years.

"Kibworth are bringing a few coach loads of people to watch the match and hopefully we'll get a lot of local support, so it should be a great occasion," said the president.

"They're are very tough opponents with a great pedigree in the competition but we are flying-high at the moment and go into the game confident."

Before Sunday's cup clash Kidderminster will be aiming to keep the pressure up on leaders Knowle and Dorridge when they play Coventry and North Warwickshire at home on Saturday in the Birmingham and District League Premier Division.

Despite Saturday's losing draw to Barnt Green Kidderminster are in third place and only 22 points behind the leaders.

Groundsman Mike Wakefield was praised by the president, for his efforts to get the game on against Barnt Green, even when torrential rain forced the rest of the league off.

Broadfield said: "Mark and his helpers worked very hard to get the pitch ready for the game. They deserve all the credit for making sure it went ahead."

Kidderminster are also waiting for confirmation from Worcestershire that it will host the County Championship game against Yorkshire between August 14 and 17.

The county has been forced to move its home fixtures to other venues because of flood damage at New Road.
