BEWDLEY Town have recruited former Kidderminster Harriers and Stourbridge striker Ryan Rowe to their ranks.

Rowe featured for 60 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Smethwick Rangers last Saturday and Bewdley spokesman Steve Godfrey said: "We've still got to get him up to speed. He played for Lye Town last season but hasn't done anything this summer apart from one training session.

"He's just what we need at the moment because we haven't been converting enough of our chances, even though we remain unbeaten after four games."

The contest with Smethwick confirmed Bewdley's current form after they took the lead on six minutes through a Simon Rudd thunderbolt.

But Bewdley proved unable to press home their advantage and Smethwick struck back to level through Sukraz Nijjar.

Godfrey admitted: "Smethwick defended doggedly and then caught us out on the break with a ball over the top.

"We hit the crossbar and the post, but we couldn't break them down.

"I don't think our goalkeeper Joe Siddaway had a save to make in the second half."

Bewdley entertain Bilston Town Community this Saturday, the visitors having yet to pick up a point this season.

They visit Malvern Town on Bank Holiday Monday

Bewdley have been drawn away to FC Stratford in the FA Vase - the tie to take place on Sunday, September 2.

The winners will visit either Ashby Ivanhoe or Friar Lane and Eppworth in the following round.
