KIDDERMINSTER are on the brink of securing promotion back to the Birmingham and District League Premier Division.

KCC bagged a comfortable five-wicket win over relegation-threatened Himley on Monday to edge nearer an immediate return to the top tier.

the hosts quickly made inroads after winning the toss and bowling at Himley, who lost their first three wickets for only 21 runs. Barney Morgan took the first two wickets of Oli Westbury (0) and Greg Wright (10).

Callum Lea's half century offered some resistance before skipper Neil Pinner (4-32) struck with the ball to help bowl Himley out for 139.

Matthew Pardoe (46), Andrew Kimberlin (23) and Ben Twohig (33) help ensure KCC reached their goal.

They will now travel to Tamworth this Saturday (noon start) looking for the win to confirm their promotion aim.

Pinner's men end the campaign with a home clash against Brockhampton and a trip to Bromsgrove.

The Kidderminster captain said: "I haven't bowled much this year so it was good to get a few wickets. We only had three seamers available, we needed to make up some overs and it was starting to spin a bit.

"Others bowled better than I did but I got the wickets.

"We've been rally strong at home this season and expect to win every game we play. We have managed to build up that mentality.

"We'll go to Tamworth expecting a tough game this weekend.

"The one thing we have been good at this year is keeping our focus regardless of where we are.

"That will be our goal again this weekend. We've been very consistent and we just need to continue to do that heading into the final few games."
