OMBERSLEY were relegated from the Birmingham Cricket League Premier Division despite a 150-run win at home to Kenilworth Wardens.

They joined Wolverhampton in dropping while Berkswell were crowned champions for the second time in three years.

Ombersley will rue the decision that led to the competition’s disciplinary committee deducting 20 points from their total for fielding the ineligible Ben Cox in their win over Moseley on September 9.

They were also fined £100 as the Worcestershire Rapids T20-winning hero, a category two player, had only figured in one previous league match for the club this season.

A regulation, introduced in 2009, states category two players may only feature in league matches in September if they have played two previously before August 31.

Dorridge avoided the drop with a three-wicket victory over Knowle and Dorridge while Wardens earned three bonus points to ensure their safety.

Liam Gwynne scored 65 and Jack Haynes 48 in Ombersley’s 239-7 against Wardens who collapsed to 89 all out.

Josh Haynes took 4-17 and Oliver Uffindall 3-41.

Shifnal clinched the second promotion place in Division One behind Kidderminster after defeating Barnards Green by four runs.

Bridgnorth missed out on promotion by one point after losing at Brockhampton by one run as the Herefordshire side avoided relegation with C&R Hawks unable to go up due to their ground.

Steve Leach (75) led the way for Shifnal and Ross Aucott hit 44 to see them to 243-8.

Mahaaz Ahmed took 3-43 for Green who were dismissed for 239 in reply.

Ryan Tongue (60) and Ahmed (50) batted well but 4-48 from Alex Riley pegged them back.

Ashlea Brewer (32) threatened to spoil Shifnal’s day but was the last man out with an over left.

Champions Kidderminster conceded 230-7 to Bromsgrove through Jayden Levitt (55), Ryan Pedley (54) and Ashley Newfield (45).

Liam Weston took 3-70 for Kidderminster who were bowled out for 209 despite 91 from skipper Neil Pinner including 13 fours and two sixes.

Newfield completed a fine all-round game with 4-42.

Division Two winners Harborne celebrated their triumph with a 42-run victory over Pershore.

Harborne’s 289 all out in 49.4 overs was built around Karan Bharaj (64), Jimmy Clifford (54), Tom Payne (47) and Daniel Wright (40).

Darren Critcher picked up 4-53 for Pershore who were dismissed for 247 in reply.

Chris Miles scored 60 and Stephen Miles 47 but Zak Sinkinson claimed 5-39 and George Land 3-37.

Worcester’s Old Elizabethans finished a disappointing Division Three season on a high note with a 10-run win over Lichfield.

Tom Goodwin hit 49 as OEs reached 255-7 with Andrew Lightbown taking 3-38.

The visitors looked on course for victory after Will Davies (67), Callum Heanan (51) and Adam Braddock (48) guided them to 244-6.

But they lost their last four wickets for one run as Khalid Baig (4-34) removed the tail and OEs finished third from bottom.
