NEIL MacFarlane heaped praise on Harriers’ work ethic after their narrow success over Altrincham.

The Reds boss saw his side win 3-2 thanks to goals from Ed Williams, Dan Bradley and Ash Chambers at Aggborough.

He said: “It was a great game of football and a real credit to this level. I thought both teams were fantastic.

“I was over the moon with the start to the game. We were on the front foot from the very start and scored within a couple of minutes through Ed (Williams) and as the half progressed we looked a real threat with the front three.

“But, as I’ve said before, it’s a real team work ethic that’s just incredible and I’ve said that from day one my teams really have to show that energy every single week. I couldn’t be happier with them.

“In my opinion that is a game we would have thrown away last year but we have to keep striving to get better all the time.

“We have that steely determination within the group that when we come up against it, as we did today, that we stick together.

“That work ethic was just incredible right to the very end. Although maybe they deserved a point we got our break because we put so much into it and the fans were unbelievable for us at the end. They just kept us going when we just needed to get over the line.

“The way that the group respond all the time and to see that game out, they’re starting to understand the game management side of the game.”
