SAMURAI Judo Club collected a brace of silver medals at the at the Fudoshin Cup in Devon after battling through tough preliminary rounds to reach the finals.
The girls team, Katy Jennings, Sophie Davis and Rhea Turner, won five matches to reach the final including a close fixture against Drake Judo Club from Plymouth, which finished 2-1.
Two Truro teams were next, the first succumbed 2-0 with one match drawn, and the second lost 2-1.
Samurai then took on hosts Kingsley School in Bideford, who they beat 3-0, and then a Bristol combined clubs team who they beat 2-1.
The final saw the Samurai girls up against a combined team from Swindon and Bristol’s Bradley Stoke club who proved too strong for the midlanders.
Samurai's boys team featured Dillon Walker, Evan Turner and Harry Ashen who clocked up creditable wins on their way to the final against Drake Judo Club.
The final did not go Samurai's way, Walker was forced to retire from his match with a wrist injury and the Kidderminster club was subsequently beaten into second place.
