KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club toasted one of its best ever seasons, topped by the first team’s promotion back to Birmingham’s top-flight Premier Division, at its annual dinner.

Captain Neil Pinner was officially presented with the League Division 1 trophy by league president Robin Viner, a year after dropping down.

He also awarded 4th team captain Ian Sadler the Worcestershire County League 2nd Xl Division 3 trophy after the team topped the table for the second successive year.

The club’s 2nd Xl Birmingham side, captained by 18-year-old Sam Beadsworth, clinched runners-up spot in Division 2 and promotion to Division 1 – except that with structural changes to the league, 2nd Xl teams will move to the Worcestershire County League.

Player of the Year and first team captain’s player was Liam Weston, who took 36 wickets. Fifteen-year-old Joe Miszkowski, who made his 1st team debut and was selected for the prestigious Bunbury Festival, picked up Young Player of the Year.

Clubman of the Year was Clive Smith and the Dennis Jones Memorial Trophy for work behind the scenes was awarded to Tim Beadsworth.

Second team captain’s player of the year was Gomez Vincent with a tally of 42 wickets to his name. Fellow bowler, Adam Davis, collected the award for the 3rd team with 31 wickets and 14-year-old Elliot Small, who scored his first century in senior cricket this season, was awarded 4th team captain’s player of the year.

Club chairman Les Vincent said: “We have had a very successful season and all the teams are well-placed for moving into the new structure. Players will want to come to play for Kidderminster and that, coupled with the strength of the juniors coming through, bodes well for our continued success.”
