How they rated:

Stourbridge 3, Harriers 2

Stourbridge:

Wren: Made a good early save from Chambers and did well when called upon. Couldn’t do much to prevent the Harriers goals. Dwelt on the ball late in the first half but wasn’t punished. 7.

Hayden: Did well defensively except when he found himself on the wrong side and gave away the penalty that led to Harriers’ second. Lucky to stay on the field for that foul. Helped his side see out the closing stages though. 7.

Brown: Another who worked hard and showed good composure on the ball at times. Defended well too and recovered quickly after Vaughan got away from him for Harriers’ opener. 7.

McCone: Looked like it may be a tricky afternoon for McCone early on but he grew into the contest and read the game well. 7.

Westlake: Another who reads the game well but did struggle with the movement of Bradley early on. Much like the team, he settled down and battled well throughout. 6.

Forde: Typically tenacious showing in midfield. His shot led to Stour’s equaliser and then he kept his calm to dispatch the winning penalty. 8.

Powell: Lively in the opening stages but struggled as Harriers passed the ball around neatly in the first half. Replaced by Benbow early in the second half. 6.

Broadhurst: One of Stour’s shining lights during a difficult first period. Worked hard in midfield and go his side going forwards as they looked for a way back. 7.

Anderson: Struggled in the first half but came alive after Benbow’s introduction. In the right place at the right time for his first and followed up brilliantly for his second. 7.5.

Thompson-Brown: Did okay during a frantic first half but didn’t have the impact he is capable off and was often crowded out in and around the box. 6.

Birch: Worked really hard as Stour battled to stay in the game before being replaced by Christophorou as Stour changed shape. 6.

Subs: Benbow: Brilliant impact showing from the striker. He turned the game for the hosts and was soon the focal point of his side’s attacks. He gave Harriers a new challenge and they couldn’t handle it. 8.5.

Christophorou: A key change that allowed the home side to match up against Harriers’ wing-backs. Helped shut down Harriers late on. 6.

Unused subs: Mills, Pierpoint, Steele, Evans, Maher.

Kidderminster:

Hall: Did well despite not having a great deal to do in the first half. Made two good saved but did spill the shot that led to Stour’s equaliser though. 6.

Vaughan: A really good showing from the all-action right wing-back. His pace down the right led to Harriers’ well-worked opener. 7.5.

Austin: Did well down the left without much reward. Was able to beat his man but rarely found that key ball into the box. Full of running. 6.

O’Connor: Defended well at times and only looked uncomfortable when dragged deeper into midfield. Solid. 6.

Digie: Carried the ball out from the back reasonably well in the first half and won his battles but looked shaky in the second half as Stour cranked up the pressure. 6.

Johnson: Like Digie, the young defender struggled to find his composure late on as Stour smelt blood. His handball handed Stour the chance to win it from the spot. 6.

Weeks: Did well when dictating play in a fine first half for the visitors and had a few shots sail narrowly wide. 7.

Daniels: Another who helped shut down the home threat early on and moved the ball neatly through midfield. Struggled to have an impact as Stour pushed on. 7.

Bradley: A flying start to the game saw him drill on effort just wide. He was full of running and helped stretch the Stour back line until he went off injured before the break. 7.

Chambers: A constant threat in behind early in the game and was denied the opener by Wren. His deft touch set-up his side’s opener, though, and won the penalty that saw them go 2-0 up. 8.

Williams: The space he and Bradley found and his willingness to run at players had Stour in all sorts of bother in the first half. Bagged the opener and tested Wren from range. His influence dwindled a little as the second half progressed. 7.5.

Subs:

Ironside: Should have scored late in the first half after catching the keeper on the ball but couldn’t find the unguarded net. Stepped up to dispatch the penalty that should have been enough to see Harriers home. 7.

Richards: Late change as Harriers were suddenly chancing the game. Fired one effort over the bar but couldn’t save the day in the final ten minutes. 6.5.

Unused subs: Baxendale, White, Taylor, Palmer, Brooks.
