LITTLE Amelia Dunne proved that size isn’t everything when she pipped 50 other students to the post to receive the 'best in grade' award in a regional taekwondo event.

Standing under 120cm tall, Amelia has incredible balance, flexibility and focus for her eight years.

Dunne first approached her grandad Kevin, an ex-martial arts student of high standards, to train a few years ago and he happily showed her some pad drills and self-defence, but her passion led him to source a local taekwondo school for her to train in regularly.

Not contented with just one school, Amelia uses both Stourbridge and Wyre Forest Taekwondo clubs to get 3-4 sessions in every single week. She also still enjoys practising at home with her grandad and the pair have decided its time to give competitions a go.

She will make her debut competition entry in the club's first charity inter club competition, KEMP Comp, in November this year.

Katie Billingham, who teaches Amelia regularly, said: “She is an exceptional case and an instructor's dream. She has a natural talent, combined with a drive and passion that comes from inside her. "She has the support of her grandad who travels where ever he is needed to support not just her but her three siblings, and those three factors, the talent, the passion and the support, are what it takes to truly be a champion. The sky's the limit for this little girl. I’m honoured to be able to work with her on her journey.”
