WORCESTERSHIRE cricket ace Daryl Mitchell proved the perfect all-rounder by notching a hat-trick for his local Sunday football team.
The 34-year-old answered an SOS from his dad and assistant manager Keith, featuring up front for Bretforton Old Boys in a 5-3 victory over Tewkesbury Town in the Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup.
With the cup holders struggling for numbers, the New Road legend and former county captain more than played his part and was joined on the scoresheet by Ashleigh Beddoes (2).
Born in Badsey, fewer than 20 miles from Worcestershire’s headquarters, Mitchell became the first club’s first captain to be born inside the county since Maurice Foster in 1925 when he was appointed full-time at the end of 2010 and held for six years.
