How they rated:

Harriers 1, Southport 4

Hall: Unlucky with two of the deflected efforts but could have been more commanding at his near post for the third. Not afforded much protection by those ahead of him but made a good save late on. 6.

Vaughan: Like his teammates he was off the pace before being replaced at the break. 4.

Taylor: Some good runs down the left flank but held onto the ball too much at times. 5.

O’Connor: Lost his man for the second goal but did net with a neat back heel in the second half. 5.

Horsfall: Part of a back line that dropped too deep under pressure in the first half and looked a little low on confidence on the ball. 4.

Johnson: Struggled to get into the game and replaced at the break. 4.

Weeks: A slight improvement in the second half but it was Southport’s success in midfield that gave them the basis of their win. 5.

Daniels: Struggled to have an impact and his passing was too wayward at key times. 4.

Bradley: Failed to link up with Chambers as the ball didn’t stick up top. Too often had to deal with long balls up to him. 4.

Chambers: Looked tired and found openings hard to come by, especially after being forced wider in the second half reshuffle. 5.

Williams: Perhaps the only bright spark with his ever-willing runs with the ball at feet. A frustrating afternoon as he couldn’t find a way through. 6.5.

Subs: Ironside: Registered his side’s first effort on target early in second half but Harriers didn’t create enough even after his introduction. 5.

Austin: Added some energy but nothing more in the final third. 5.

Richards: Worked hard and enjoyed some good runs down the left without success. 6.

Unused subs: Baxendale, Digie
