BEWDLEY Town let two points slip from their grasp this week when held to a 2-2 draw by Shifnal Town.

A drab first half saw Shifnal snatch a late lead through Ben Macaulay.

But the second half was a different story as Bewdley took charge and went ahead through a couple of goals from highly prized 16-year-old striker Luke Sidaway.

However, Bewdley failed to put the game to bed and let in Shifnal for a late equaliser from Adrian Jones.

Bewdley spokesman Steve Godfrey said: "We had more than enough chances to win the game. I don't know what was said at half time, but we came out with all guns blazing and it looked as though we'd taken the game away from Shifnal.

"To be honest, their goal was a bit fortuitous as the ball was hooked towards goal and I think the wind caught it and took the ball over goalkeeper Joe Sidaway."

Bewdley have been dealt a further blow with Ellis Stubbings ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a shoulder injury while on holiday.

Busy Bewdley travel to Hereford side Wellington this Saturday and then host Smethwick Rangers on Tuesday in the West Midlands League Cup.
