HARRIERS have confirmed that young defender Harry Higginson has signed a first professional contract with the club.

The 20-year-old has made a big impression in the first team this season, not least on his first start when he helped the side earn a clean sheet in the 1-0 win at AFC Telford United.

Higginson is a home-grown prospect, playing pivotal roles in both the U19 Academy team and, this term, the table-topping U23s outfit.

The youngster’s commitment, attitude and work-rate have impressed staff and fans alike – so much so that the club have secured him to an 18-month contract.

“I started off the season with the 23s and have worked my way into the first team,” Harry said recently, of his progress at the club.

“I was called over to train with the first team and have been working hard day in, day out and proved what I can do.

“Obviously it has paid off in the end.

“It’s good to see that your hard work is rewarded and that you get your chance – it’s just up to you to take it.”
