JIMMY O’Connor will take charge of Kidderminster Harriers for the remaining two matches this season.

The experienced defender, who had been assisting manager Mark Yates, will now take control of first team affairs.

The move comes after Yates met with chairman Colin Gordon to discuss matters following Friday’s defeat to Leamington, which all but ended Harriers’ hopes of making the National League North play-offs this season.

It was decided that Yates wouldn’t be considered for the long-term manager’s role at Aggborough so there was no benefit to continue with the current arrangement.

O’Connor will be assisted by Russ Penn for the games against Southport and Guiselely, while the club continues the process of identifying the next manager.

Meanwhile, defender Harry Flowers has now returned to parent club Solihull Moors.

The centre back requested to leave Aggborough after Yates took him off at half time against Leamington on Friday.

Solihull have since officially recalled the former Burnley youngster after six starts for the Reds.
