How they rated:

Harriers 0, Alfreton 1

Gregory: Could have commanded his area better for Alfreton’s goal perhaps but Smith was still left unmarked by the defence in front of him. Did produce a fine save to tip a late shot onto the post and collected well. 6.

Austin: Showed his usual work-rate over on the right flank. Defended well and helped Harriers play out from the back. 7.

Davidson: Another fine showing from the left wing-back. His surging run from deep in the second half handed him a good chance but he could only drag his effort narrowly wide. Always an option and never shirked his defensive duties. 7.

R. Williams: A really mature display from the young centre back. Won the aerial battle, blocked brilliantly from Morgan-Smith in the second half and made good decisions on the ball about when to play out and when to get rid. 8.

Moyo: Defended well throughout and won possession back with some strong challenges. Had more of an impact when moved into midfield late on as two chances fell his way that he could only fire at Atkinson. 7.

Johnson: Did well against Alfreton’s powerful attacking options. Slightly sloppy in possession early on but grew as the clash went on and made some important clearances. 6.5.

Prosser: Kept the ball moving in midfield well and played one good through ball but did drift out of the game in the second half. 6.

Butterfield: A solid all-round display from the midfield man. Stepped in to win the ball on occasion but was also able to break forward at times in the second half. 7.

Chambers: Another tireless display but couldn’t find a way to beat Atkinson as that bit of cutting edge in the final third let Harriers down. Some of Kidderminster’s best work came from his selfless running and neat link-up. 7.5.

E. Williams: A mixed afternoon for the dangerous attacker. Caused problems in the first half, carried the ball well and linked up with Chambers and Auston down the right. Did drift out of the clash in the second half though. 6.5.

Peniket: Another who couldn’t maintain his impact into the second period. Won some useful knock downs in the first half and help the ball up well. Did have as much joy after the break. 6.

Subs:

Sharman: Solid after his introduction. Kept things simple but slotted in well enough. 6.

Shenton: Replaced Williams late on and added a little bit more guile as Reds pushed for an equaliser. More to come from the new man. 6.

Unused subs: Palmer, Higginson, Freemantle.
