- After three minutes the free head of Shane Killock forced Brandon Hall into a full-stretch save.
- The opening goal came two minutes later when Daniel East curled his long range volley into the net.
- The visitors could have doubled their lead but for a fine Hall save to deny Danny Clarke's low shot.
- Bulls forward Victor Sodeinde was causing a host of problems on the left and his whipped cross was glanced into the net by Alfreton captain Ryan Qualter for the 12th minute equaliser.
- Nottingham Forest loanee Sodeinde caused more problems for the defence and latched onto a defensive error before seeing his deflected effort off the goalkeeper trickle wide.
- Defender Joshua Clackstone almost shocked the Bulls again after getting the wrong side of the defence before blazing over.
- Dale Whitham was next to threaten the Bulls goal, but his header from a long throw was straight at Hall.
- At the opposite end Brad Ash forced Jack Atkinson into action after finding himself through on goal.
- Similar to the first half the Bulls were again slow starting and Kieran Thomas was needed to make a last ditch block to deny Danny Clarke a certain goal.
- However, the Bulls didn't take their warning and on the 50th minute they failed to clear a corner and Amari Morgan-Smith was on hand to rifle home.
- The Bulls took their time to respond and their closes attempt at an equaliser saw Ash fire just over the bar after meeting a free-kick from a tight angle.
