SHOBDON darts player Jim Williams was knocked out of the Grand Slam of Darts last night after almost providing an upset.

The Grand Slam of Darts sees competitors from both the BDO and Professional Darts Corporation circuits compete against each other.

Williams who plays in the amateur based British Darts Organisation (BDO) had a tough group against current professional World Champion Michael van Gerwen and former champion Adrian Lewis.

On the opening night of the tournament Williams lost 5-2 to Van Gerwen.

However, a convincing 5-1 victory over Ross Smith the following day raised his qualification hopes last night (Tuesday) with a win over Lewis.

Williams took a 3-1 lead only to see two-time World Champion Lewis respond in emphatic style, eventually winning 5-3.
