HAUGH Woods will again play host to the Muddy Woody 6 in February half-term.

Some 400 runners are expected to experience the mud, hills, streams and trails of the beautiful woods near Mordiford.

Taking place on Sunday, February 16, the event only accepts pre-race entries and organisers are urging local runners to sign up now before the event sells out.

The race has sold half of the available places in the first week.

Wye Valley Runners chairman Martin Flowers said: "This year should be the best ever thanks to sponsorship by local business Wye Valley Brewery. "We think we are the friendliest race in England and intend to carry on with that reputation and tradition in February come rain or shine."

Runners take on a challenging but exhilarating route and are welcomed across the finish line with a free Muddy Woody T shirt, goody bag hot tea and fresh doughnuts.

Prizes will be given out for men and women as well as age category prizes for veterans.

The organisers already have runners registered from age 17 to 80 and from all parts of the UK and across Europe.

Many families make the event a highlight of the half-term holiday boosting the local tourist economy.

The race is open to the runners of all abilities and the entry form can be found on Wye Valley Runners website by visiting: www.wyevvalleyrunners.co.uk
