INTERIM boss Josh Gowling said he isn’t involved in the negotiations between the board and Stephen Dawson’s representatives to bring the player back to the club.

When asked if negotiations were still ongoing between the club and 34-year-old midfielder? Gowling replied: “That’s between the board, I’m not getting involved in that kind of stuff, obviously if I was the manager then that would be different but that’s between Dawson’s representatives and the board and I’ll leave it there with them.”

Gowling says that he wants to work with the current squad before looking elsewhere for new players.

He added: “We’ve had a chat with the chairman about things and if there’s areas we feel we need to improve on then that’s something we will look at,

“But first and foremost, we want to get the DNA of the football club right. We want to get the dressing room back where it need to be mentally and then we will look at it moving forward.

“As you can see today we’ve got a lot of talent in this squad and don’t want to ruffle feathers too much. We want the lads to have confidence and know that we’ve got belief in them.”
