KIDDERMINSTER Harriers fans have raised more than £5,000 to boost manager Russ Penn’s playing budget.

The club launched its Boost the Budget Crowdfunder scheme earlier this year in a bid to increase manager Russ Penn's player recruitment funds ahead of the new season.

With two weeks to go until the fundraiser draws to a close, £5,000 has been donated by 80 Harriers fans in exchange for a unique range of rewards and experiences.

Penn said: "There’s a tremendous feel-good factor around the place at the minute and the fans are playing a real part in that.

"I’ve said before that, where this kind of thing is concerned, every bit does help.

"I know some people have donated larger sums and some have thrown in £5 or £10. Every donation is really appreciated by everybody.

“The fans know I will do everything I can to reward their generosity with results this season, and any support they can keep on giving us in the next couple of weeks will be absolutely massive for us.”

It is hoped that live football will be returning to Aggborough Stadium soon, with the government and the FA advice suggesting the new season might begin in September.
