STOURPORT MATCH REPORTS MATCH DATE: SATURDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2021 Men’s Section Stourport Men’s 1st XI 4-1

North Stafford Table-topping Stourport Men's 1st XI made a worthwhile trip to Newcastle under Lyme, extending their unbeaten run against a young North Stafford side, who's sitting comfortably in mid-table position in the penultimate game before the Christmas break.

With some key players missing, Coach Stefan Sekula was keen to reiterate the importance of hard work and discipline. The deadlock was broken when Sekula, with his 1st goal of the season, hammered home the opener from a penalty corner.

Chris Miles added a second shortly after, from an excellent pass from the returning Nathan Claris.

Stourport added their third when Adam Leeke converted a tap in following an aggressive press before North Stafford pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.

With no floodlights available, the second half began in darkness and became fractious, with a number of green cards being shown. Joe Schubert added a fourth for the visitors. Stourport host Warwick on Saturday 11th, looking to complete an unbeaten 1st half of the season.

Stourport Men’s 2nd XI 4-0 Litchfield 3rd XI

Stourport Men's 2nd's took all three points in their Midlands 4 Division West match against their visitors Litchfield 3rd's.

The match started with the visitors without a keeper where neither side scored until after the Litchfield keeper arrived.

Maxim Edgar and Matt Ormerod scored identical goals as the ball was worked into the D, the keeper making an initial save but both scored from the rebound. The 2nd saw for goals including Paul Rhodes a first-time scorer for 2nd XI got the fourth.

Stourport Men’s 3rd XI 3-2 Old Silhillians 2nd XI

A gritty performance by Stourport Men's 3rd XI secured a valuable three points, when they beat their hosts Old Silhillians, 3-2, in the Midlands Men's South West Division 6. Stourport fielding the bare eleven players were further handicapped when centre midfield and influential player, Mike Shaw pulled up, after twenty minutes with a hamstring strain; things didn't look promising for the visitors.

With Old Sils 1-0 up, and with Shaw limited to standing in the opposition circle, Stourport did well to equalise, through a David Knott penalty corner, before halftime. Stourport found themselves behind again after the break, but, with twenty minutes left to play, the visitors, secured another corner and pulled level again, through Rob Lashford's strike.

Stourport snatched victory ten minutes from the end, with a third goal, following a break involving the three youngsters in the side. All of the Stourport dug in for the final few minutes but held on to secure a well-earned and hard-fought victory.

Stourport Men’s 5th XI 5-3 Worcester 6th XI

Stourport Men's 5th XI entertaining Worcester 6th's in their Midlands Men's Division 9 South West match, came away with a 5-3 victory. Jonathon Walton had a fine performance in the Stourport goal, making some fine saves on his 5th team debut. Stourport’s goals included a hat trick for Lee Slipanczewski after five, twenty and sixty minutes.

Ladies’ Section

Stourport Ladies’ 2nd XI 4-3 Ashby 1st XI

In their penultimate match for the first half of the season, Stourport ladies travelled to take on Ashby 1st's in the Midland Women's Premier League and came away with a 4-3 victory. Stourport dominated possession in the first half but initially were unable to take advantage, and a mistake in their backline allowed Ashby to take the lead. Stourport's heads didn't drop and the visitors were soon back on level terms. Stourport pushed on in the second-half scoring three goals through Sophie Thompson, Sophie Tibbets, and Captain Amy Miller in quick succession. Ashby wasn't finished though and scored two goals in the last ten minutes.

Stourport Ladies’ 5th XI 1-1 Harborne 5th XI

Stourport ladies fought out a 1-1 draw with visitors Harborne 5th's in this rearranged Midland’s Women's Division 5 Beacon match. Stourport was under pressure from the push back but rallied during the half, to take the lead following a short corner. Harborne still pressed the Stourport goal and equalised before the half-time whistle. Stourport took the match to their visitors in the second half, but despite a number of golden chances to take the lead, were unable to put the ball into the goal and seal the victory.
