Stourport men's 1st XI welcomed Worcester to the Kingsway, in their Midland Division 1 match.

The hosts gave home debuts to Josh Appleby and the returning Simon Claris found themselves a goal down within the first three minutes.

Stourport didn't take long to find a response: patient passing between Claris and Andy Cavendish, opening up a gap in the lines, allowed Claris to find Adam Leeke in the circle to deflect the ball into the goal.

Schubert was causing havoc in the Worcester half, breaking tackles and forcing saves from the Worcester keeper.

Worcester retook the lead from a counter-attack after their keeper had smothered a Stourport effort from a short corner when a Worcester forward was left unmarked at the back post to slot home.

Stourport again came back, Cavendish finding Joe Schubert with a long overhead pass, who went past five defenders and scored with a strong backhand shot.

Stourport were not level for long, as they took the lead for the first time in the match, with Cavendish and Schubert combining again with a trademark corner routine, making it 3-2 at the break.

Stourport added their fourth ten minutes from the end, Schubert found Appleby in space to score his first goal on his home debut.

Stourport thought they'd scored again when Claris slung the ball into the backboard past the helpless Worcester keeper, only for it to be disallowed for 'not leaving the circle.' Still celebrating the Stourport players were caught out as Worcester played a long ball forward, and scored their third.

This hard-fought 4-3 victory makes it thirteen wins out of thirteen matches in the league.
