Stourport Men’s 1st XI 4-1 Burton

Stourport men's 1st XI made it 18 wins out of 18 matches, with this 4-1 victory over their hosts, Burton, and only need 3 points to be crowned champions in the Midland Men's Division 1.

Stourport initially struggled to find the slick passing hockey that's served them well this season, whilst Burton playing a wide system caused the Stourport visitors problems. Stourport, finally finding their touch, opened the scoring with a slick passing move, between Dan Hurley and Callum* passing to Adam Leeke who slotted home his twentieth goal of the season.

On the call of halftime, Stourport was awarded a penalty stroke after Simon Claris flicked the ball into Burton's post man, only for Captain Andy Cavendish to be unable to beat the keeper.

Burton gave an immediate response, as they came out in the second half scoring an equaliser from a rebound at a short corner. Stourport retook the lead when a low drag flick from Claris, made it 2-1. Stourport then took control with a third through Chris Kendall and with his sixth goal of the season Josh Appleby rounded off the scoring with Stourport's fourth.

Stourport added a third before the break from great work again by Evan Stokes. Stourport continued to have the majority of the possession and created numerous chances but couldn't find the final touch or pass to convert into additional goals. Market Drayton continued to fight and scored a consolation late goal.

After a very good performance the previous week against Bromsgrove, in the South West Division 6, Stourport 5th's entertained top-of-the-table Birmingham University 5ths. With five changes from the previous week, Stourport defended doggedly, with Ian Roberts controlling the backline against a fast mobile University side but kept the score 0-0 at the break.

Stourport continued to hold out against their opposition until the last ten minutes of the match when, whilst on the attack, the home side was caught out by a breakaway. Stourport continued to push but was unable to level the scores.

Stourport battled hard throughout the match with Steve Jones being foiled by a double save by the home keeper. The home side, who have been scoring with ease throughout the season, was only 0-2 ahead at the break but added another nine against Stourport's keeper Allan Moss in the second half.

Stourport Mens' 6th XI 1- 5 Bromsgrove 4th XI

Stourport allowed Bromsgrove back into the match after unfortunately not converting a number of chances. Despite some encouraging performances by Dominic* and Reuben*, Stourport found themselves the victims of Bromsgrove's breakaways from which they repeatedly scored

Stourport Ladies 2nd XI, hoping to build on the previous week's victory, lost 0-1 when they entertained Olton & West Warwickshire 2nd XI in the Midlands Women's Premier League. Stourport started well dominating the play and possession throughout the first half.

Despite being the stronger side, Stourport were unable to convert their chances and with only two minutes of the half to go, Olton took the lead. Stourport Ladies’ 4th XI 1-4 Bromsgrove 2nd XI

Despite losing 1-4 Stourport Ladies 4th XI, put on a fighting performance when they entertained Bromsgrove 2nd's, in the Midlands Women's Division 3 South West. Bromsgrove 6 places above Stourport came out strong.

Attacking the Stourport goal from the push back, under continuous pressure, Stourport's defence, standing firm, only conceding when a shot from a short corner, despite skimming off defender Sara Jennings' stick on the line, continued onto the backboard. Bromsgrove were ruthless in their pursuit of more goals and looked to have added a second from a short corner.

Only this time, the incoming ball was glanced around the post to safety, by Jennings, on the post. Bromsgrove wasn't to be denied though, and added a second before the break, but not before Holly Gill in the Stourport goal had pulled off an outstanding diving save to prevent the visitors from extending their lead.

Stourport came out stronger in the second half and despite being under pressure from Bromsgrove, started to push forward more during the half. Stourport's efforts were rewarded as a defence-splitting pass from Hannah Corcoran found Rhiannon* just inside the 'D', whose cheeky flick found its way into the goal. Bromsgrove came back harder at Stourport and despite Stourport's resistance added two further goals before the final whistle.
