Men’s Section

Stourport Men’s 1st XI 8-0 North Stafford

Stourport men's 1st XI entertaining North Stafford as champions of the Midland Division 1, the home side made it 21 wins out of 21 with this 8-0 victory. Stourport started strongly taking the lead within the first 2 minutes, when Joe Schubert skipped through some midfield challenges, went past Stafford's defence, and slotted past the visitor's keeper. Adam Leeke added a second when Schubert turned provider. A mis-injected and mis-trapped corner led to a series of passes that allowed an unmarked Simon Claris to tap in at the far post.  Stourport made it 4-0 before the break when a good save from a Claris drag-flick fell to Leeke who tapped in his second. Stourport added a 5th when Schubert skipped past the North Stafford defence, early in the second half, and laid off a perfect pass for Leeke to score his hat-trick. Another goal for Schubert tapped in an Andy Cavendish pass made it 6-0 before a drag flick from Claris found the top right-hand corner. Stourport rounded off the 8-0 victory late. on when Cavendish nicked the ball on the halfway line and slipped it to Schubert who laid the ball for Josh Appleby to round the keeper and slot the ball home.

Stourport Men’s 2nd XI 3-3 Lichfield 3rd XI

Stourport dominated the first 10 minutes of this Midlands Division 4 West match against hosts Lichfield, taking the lead early on after an amazing run by Evan Stokes was slotted home by Dave Potter. Stourport continued to create some good chances throughout the half but was unable to convert them, and late on Lichfield who'd had some good chances on the break equalised late on in the half. Stourport created the better chances at the start of the second half, scored two more goals from Jack Downie and another from Paul Rhodes with a back post tap in following a snaking run by Sam*. Stourport was unable to convert their remaining chances to seal the victory and Lichfield fought back with two goals to seal a point.


Stourport Men’s 5th XI 4-0 Worcester 6th XI

Stourport men's 5th XI secured a 4-0 victory when they travelled for their Midlands Men's Division 9 South West league against local rivals Worcester 6th XI. Stourport took the lead in the 12th minute with Rich Collins's first-ever goal. Stourport had to wait until the second half when Dave Bedford scored the first of his brace in the 40th minute. David Henderson added a third in the 50th minute which was followed by Bedford's second and Stourport's 4th in the 65th minute. Another strong performance by Wilf* in defence and the first clean sheet of the season for Wayne Berry in goal ensured this 4-0 victory.

Ladies’ Section

Stourport Ladies’ 2nd XI 2-2 Ashby 1st XI

Stourport Ladies 2nd XI, playing in the heat of a March heatwave, fought out a 2-2 draw with their visitors Ashby 1st's in the Midlands Women's Premier League. Ashby took an early two-goal lead in the first half only for Hannah Johnson, to pull a goal back from a short corner, before the halftime break. A solid press helped to retain possession in the second half and numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Bryony* managed to equalise with a crafty tap in to secure a draw.    

Stourport Ladies’ 4th XI 0-15 Sutton Coalfield Ladies' 3rd XI

Stourport ladies 4thXI battled hard when they entertained Sutton Coalfield 3rd's in the Midlands Women's Division 3 South West, but couldn't prevent the visitors from winning 0-15. Sutton went ahead early on and pressured for most of the match, with the Stourport defence only having brief respites, from the Sutton forwards. Stourport rallied in the second half making incursions into the Sutton half, but for the majority of the match, it was a case of backs against the wall for the Stourport. Some fine defensive play kept the score down to the final 0-15 scoreline.
