In their penultimate match of the season, Stourport men's 1st XI continued their unbeaten run in the Midlands Primer Division, with a 2-1 victory over their visitors Leek 1st XI.

Leek had to look to have earned a share of the points when they put the ball into the Stourport net only for it to be chalked off for an infringement in the build-up, in the season finale on Saturday Stourport travel to second-placed Khalsa in the promotion-deciding match.

Stourport Men's 3s had an early start when they travelled away this weekend to Stratford to play in the South West Division 6 league.

Stourport with only 11 players started very briskly and were 2 goals up in the first 20 minutes with both goals being scored by Neil Farquarson.

Against the run of play, Stratford managed to score two goals from their very few attacks. The score was 2-2 at halftime. After the break, the captain David Knott scored within the first two minutes, from a solo breakaway effort.

This was soon followed by his scoring again when a penalty stroke was awarded following an illegal stop on the line. In the last 10 minutes of the game, an ariel pass from David Knott to Mike Shaw into the circle allowed him to collect and score an excellent goal.

The men's 5th XI travelled to take on Edgbaston 6th's in the South West 8 league Division, where secured a 4-1 victory.

The men's 6th XI comprehensively beat their visitors Worcester 7th's, 12-0 in their South West 4 match, with seven of those goals scored before the halftime break.

Stourport kept up the pressure in the second half adding a further five goals before the final whistle.

Stourport ladies 1st XI remain second but are on the same points as leaders Bowden, in the Vitality North Division 1, after their 2-0 victory over their hosts Brooklands.

The home side put Stourport under pressure for the opening ten minutes but Stourport began to play better hockey and took the lead after 15 minutes.

After a well-worked penalty corner routine veteran defender, Jen Pritchard shot high into the roof of the net.

Pritchard added a second on the stroke of halftime with the play of the half, from another penalty corner.

With Stourport needing more goals to go top of the table, they pushed forward in the second half but despite being in total control of the game they missed a succession of chances. Stourport now need a high scoring win away to Leicester next week to win the league.

Ladies 4th came back twice against their hosts Kings Heath in the Midlands Women's Division 5 Beacon league, to seal a 5-3 victory.

The hosts pushed forward strongly in the opening minutes of the match but the experienced Stourport defence held firm, before the visitors began to create chances of their own.

It was Kings Heath who scored first but Stourport undeterred battled on and equalised through Caitlyn Clarke. Kings Heath regained the lead in the second half only for Clarke to pull the scores back level again.

Clarke added her third before Fran Moss added a fourth and Claire Barnett a fifth. The home side wasn't finished and refused to lie down and die, and their determination led to a third goal for the home side before the final whistle.
