STOURPORT CC produced a fine all-round performance in the Worcestershire Crusader League after getting the better of Wormelow by 47 runs on Saturday.

The home side won the toss at Walshes Meadow and Stourport captain Phil Williams decided to bat first.

After a steady start wickets started to fall, before Bevan Neill (33), Tom Gloster (33), Craig Siwicki (32) and Allan Lockwood (27) got Stourport back on track and guided their side to 186-7 in 50 overs.

Wormelow were unable to settle and bowler Adam Selleck, who took 3-32, was one of Stourport's main wicket-takers.

Dan Platt also produced a strong fielding display, and held three dismissals, including a spectacular diving catch.

Tom Gloster also took two wickets as Wormelow were bowled out for 139 in the 44th over to ensure Stourport took maximum points and rose to sixth in the table.

The second team also had some success when they earned a winning draw against Wormelow at Walshes Meadow.

Put into bat first, Stourport made 228-8, with Dave Cook top scoring on 70 runs and was well supported by Kevin Haycock (45) and under-16s player Connor Franklin (35).

Wormelow made a solid reply through Darren Fry Sperring (58) and Mark Merrick (46) but once they were dismissed the visitors lost the impetus and Stourport gained the upper hand and kept them to 183-7. Matt Delo was Stourport's most effective bowler with 4-42.

In Division Nine of the Worcestershire League the third team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Romsley and Hunnington.

Romsley made 294-5 in their 45 overs, with Danny Morgan hitting 124, with Dan Cope (2-37) and Ian Hayes (2-31) the pick of Stourport's bowlers.

Stourport's reply started well and they had reached 112-3, before collapsing to 118 all out.

Brad Taylor top scored with his maiden half century and was well supported by Andy Goddard (34) but it was not enough as Romsley won by 176 runs.

The club's under-13s defeat Droitwich by two wickets. Stourport's Worcestershire rivals made 31 not out, with Charlie Hopkirk taking three wickets and Matt Nicholls holding three catches.

Luke Mundi top-scored for Stourport with 31 not out as his side made 109-8, with Joe Howes hitting 25 runs.
