Stourport Hockey Club's  men's 1st XI, playing on Sunday, were on their travels again in the Second National League Midlands Conference, with their second consecutive win, they beat Bedford 2-1.

Stourport was under pressure for the opening quarter of the match but still went ahead when some good work by Simon Claris led to the opening goal for Leo Delves after 23 minutes, which gave them the lead at halftime.

Stourport were soon reduced to nine players early in the second half but great work by Callum Stanley led to a penalty corner which was dispatched by Captain Andy Cavendish expanding Stourport's lead to 2-0.

However, 10 minutes later Cavendish conceded a penalty stroke, which Stourport's player of the match, Alex Cooke, almost kept out but pulled the scores back to 2-1.

In the final 3 minutes, Bedford pressured the Stourport goals the visitors having to defend numerous penalty corners, but held firm to win the 3 points.

The men's 4th XI comprehensively beat their visitors, Bromsgrove 3rd's; in the Midland 7 South West league 6-1. A hat trick by Tom White, a brace by Daniel* and a single goal by Phil Thomas sealed the victory.

The ladies' 2nd XI came away with a slightly disappointing 0-0 when they travelled to Burton for their Midlands Division 1 Division match.

Both teams defended strongly in the first half resulting in there being very few scoring opportunities for either side. Stourport's best chances came from five penalty corners.

The second half was a more open affair with Stourport edging the amount of possession and territory which gave the better chances to break the deadlock. Stourport had to defend their own goal and a solid performance by Stourport's player of the match Georgie Rees, kept Burton at bay.

Stourport had another four penalty corners awarded in their favour but were unable to convert them with the Burton keeper making a crucial save in the final minute of the match.

The ladies 3rd XI lost 0-6 in their Midlands Division 3 South West match when they entertained Henley-in-Arden.

The visitors pressed the home defence right from the start with Stourport defending well to stop the visitor's attack. As the half progressed Stourport began to attack themselves, but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock going into the break with a single-goal advantage.

Stourport came out battling in the second half as they began to create chances of their own, but Henley was still dangerous, and as the half progressed again began to press the Stourport adding a further five goals without reply before the final whistle.
