WINGER Brian Smikle believes that Harriers have the confidence to give their own play-off hopes a lift and deny Burton Albion the Blue Square Premier title at Aggborough on Monday (3pm kick-off).

Harriers will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 13 games and also end a sequence of three draws when they take on the Brewers.

However, Mark Yates' side face a team that will seal the title and promotion to the Football League if they beat Harriers.

But Smikle, who played in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Altrincham, believes this will motivate the squad even more to see off Burton.

Harriers will have to overcome a gruelling schedule, which will see them play their fifth game in nine days.

They will also have to lift themselves against the champions elect after a late Altrincham leveller from the penalty spot on Saturday.

With four games of the season left, Harriers are fourth in the table but just one point ahead of sixth-placed Stevenage Borough.

"I thought it was great performance by us from start to finish at Altrincham," said Smikle.

"Apart from the sloppy goal I thought we battered them and it was really harsh to concede that penalty, which it never was.

"We're a bit disappointed but we need to move onto the next game now. We're still in the play-offs and our destiny is in our own hands.

"It's a bit of set back and we've got a very big game against Burton on Monday.

"They can win the league but we don't want to let them do that at our place.

"Physcially we're a bit tired but we're so confident that we're getting through games.

"We're not even thinking about the tiredness while playing, getting the win is the main thing."

Captain Mark Creighton and striker Matthew Barnes-Homer may well start after being dropped to the bench on Saturday.

Yates may also select Darryl Knights and recall Dean Bennett into the squad.

Lee Baker will also be available after serving a one-match suspension.

Burton boss Roy McFarland is likely to start with Saul Deeney in goal after Kevin Poole picked up a knock, while Greg Pearson remains suspended.

Shuttle Online will have team news before the 3pm kick-off and then follow all the action with minute-by-minute updates.

Supporters eager to have their say can also post comments as the match unfolds.
