KIDDERMINSTER Victoria CC bounced back from Saturday's disappointing Birmingham and District League Premier Division loss to defeat Lutterworth in the National Knockout Cup on Sunday.

KVCC responded impressively to their nine-wicket loss at Walmley with a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over the Leicestershire side in round two.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, KVCC made the breakthrough after Lutterworth had reached 27, when Oliver Pickering was bowled by Matt Pardoe for 16.

Only two runs were added before the visitors were reduced to 29-2, after Ted Baylis had Steven Masic caught by Andy Siwicki for six.

Fifteen-year-old Alex Hills, playing his first senior game for the club conceded 23 runs in his three overs, but took the wicket of Lewis Hill, trapping him LBW before for 11.

At 3-64, Lutterworth made a recovery with a fourth wicket stand of 82 from partnership Darren Cader and Craig Chapman.

KVCC wicketkeeper Jon Smith stumped Cader (50) off Mark Mansell's delivery, while Chapman was caught by captain Jonathan Wright off James Ralph's ball for 48.

KVCC were now getting on top and only 30 more runs came from the last five Lutterworth batsmen.

James Needham was caught by Craig Wood off Wright's bowling for seven runs, Pickering (B) was caught and bowled by Ralph for 21, before Pickering (J) was caught Andy Siwicki off Ralph for six.

Wright bowled Karl Smith(2) and Warren Evans, as Lutterworth were dismissed for 190.

Ralph was the home team's most impressive bowler, taking 3-31, with Wright not far behind with 3-40, while Mansell, Pardoe, Hills and Mansell shared the rest of the wickets.

With 191 needed in 45 overs for victory, KVCC openers Ralph and Pardoe made 43 in 10 overs.

After Ralph was bowled on 32, Neil Pinner forged a 103 second-wicket stand with fellow Worcestershire CCC academy player Pardoe.

Pardoe's impressive inning ended on 76 after smashing 11 fours and a six, while Pinner's 68 not out guided KVCC to 196-2 by the 35th over.

KVCC will now meet Knowle and Dorridge at home in the third regional round on Sunday, June 14.
