KIDDERMINSTER Carolians RFC got back on track in the Midlands Division Two West (South) with a 34-18 win over Bedworth at Marlpool Lane on Saturday.

After a run of four defeats in league and cup, five tries ensured that they got back to winning ways in emphatic style.

Victory also opened the gap on the bottom two teams to three points and further secured their place in mid-table.

Full-back Andy McLellan was in fine form, grabbing a 19 point haul for the victorious Wyre Forest side.

The home side got off to a storming start and took the lead with only three minutes on the clock, when winger Nick Martin made a strong run.

Despite being tackled heavily, he slipped the ball to Andy McLellan and KCs' full-back scored a try and added two more points by kicking the conversion.

Ten minutes into the game, he grabbed their second try of the game but missed the conversion.

Kcs' opponents hit back when they decided to run the ball from a penalty and grabbed a try to make it 12-5.

The gap was narrowed even further by a Bedworth try but the home side responded well and captain Layton Wilkinson powered over for a touch down.

Once again Bedworth stayed in touching distance of KCs with a penalty as they went into the half-time break with the scores 17-11.

KCs cut lose in the second half, with McLellan's drop-goal and a try by Wilkinson, converted by KCs' full-back, giving them a healthy lead.

Prop Cliff Tomkinson then powered over for the home side's fifth try, which was converted by McLellan.

Spirited Bedworth pulled a converted try back but KCs held on for a crucial win.

KCs will be hoping to build on that performance when they go to Berkswell and Balsall in the league on Saturday.

In Midlands Division Four West (North), Cleobury Mortimer went down 12-6 to Yardley and District.

Chaddesley Corbett romped to a 32-3 win over Bredon Star in the Midlands Division Five (South West), while Stourport lost 8-0 at Clee Hill.

On Saturday, Cleobury tackle Eccleshall at home in the league, while Chaddesley Corbett to go Bromyard.
