WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Kidderminster Harriers Ladies made it three wins in a row when they got the better of Cannock 4-3 in the West Midlands Premier Division in Sunday.

After a two-week break, the ladies made a strong start, when Debbie Harris fired them into the lead.

Harris ran onto Emma Jones free kick and from 14 -yards out made no mistake as she slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Harris made it 2-0 in the 16th minute when she ran onto Kelly Preece’s pass and again made no mistake with her finish 12 yards out.

She almost completed a hat-trick only to shoot wide just outside the box. But their Staffordshire opponents pulled a goal back, only for Harris to make it a treble with a fine finish. Their opponents pulled a goal back just before half-time.

Harriers extended their lead when Amy Marshall pounced after Harris’ shot was blocked, but Cannock scored from the penalty spot after a Kelly Preece hand ball. Harriers go to Coleshill in the league on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
