Harriers' assistant manager John Finnigan believes there's more to come from him after a man-of-the-match performance against Forest Green Rovers.

The player/coach pulled the strings impressively as fitful Harriers got the better of their Gloucestershire rivals 2-1.

Brian Smikle had fired them ahead but Forest Green dominated the second half and deservedly levelled the scores through Jonathan Smith.

But substitute Damian Spencer ensured all three points when he bagged a 91st minute winner.

While Spencer stole the limelight, it was Finnigan who took the plaudits after another influential midfield display.

The former Cheltenham Town man has started five games in a row since he stepped down as caretaker boss and Steve Burr took over.

Finnigan, who had been hampered by a groin problem, admitted he's getting back to his best.

"I had a lot of energy today, I feel that I am getting fit today and showing what I can do.

"I was pleased with my peformance and hopefully I'll get better and also score a few more goals.

"Steve's been in management a long time and he makes it look easy, that's not something I managed.

"That comes with experience, he's a great bloke and all the lads are delighted to have him in.

"We're delighted with the three points, not so with the performance, we thought we could have played a little better but the all-important thing was the result.

"It was a superb finish by Damian and what we needed at that point.

"We caused them a few problems with set-pieces in the last 10 minutes but it was a cracking finish.

"Forest Green played well, knocked it about and didn't lack confidence for a bottom four side and they will be disappointed they didn't get something out of the game.

"Our first goal was a great team goal and we showed in flashes more in the first half that we can really play. In the second half we flattered to deceive and cause more problems with the set pieces."
