Harriers assistant manager John Finnigan praised the players' bravery after Saturday's Blue Square Premier 3-0 win over Histon.

Goals for Brian Smikle, Darryl Knights and one for man of the match Finnigan ensured the Aggborough outfit are unbeaten in 2010.

With Mansfield, Luton, York, Kettering and Rushden and Diamonds dropping points, Harriers also closed the gap on the top five and kept alive their play-off hopes.

Finnigan marked his fine performance with a fine close-range volley to make it 2-0, which proved to be the decisive strike.

He said: "It was a good move. The ball's gone out on the right hand side to Chris [McPhee] and it's been lofted over.

"I never expected it to reach me because it went so high and you normally expect a defender to get a head on it, but they didn't and I swung a foot at in and it went into the back of the net.

"We're playing a slightly different formation and Steve Burr has given me the licence to get more forward.

"I was playing at the base of a diamond earlier in the season and wasn't able to get forward that much.

"In the second half we've stepped it up and everyone's been really brave to get on the ball and no been scared of making mistakes."

"After Oxford we wanted to make sure we followed it up and didn't drop off."

With Ebbsfleet at Aggborough on Tuesday night in the league, Harriers will be aiming to keep the pressure on the sides in the top five.

"We talked before Histon that we have two home games in a row and quite a few results have gone our way today," Finnigan commented.

"We've got to take the positves from the run we're on, we're still unbeaten under the new manager, and things are going well.

"We can't take our foot off the pedal and edge closer each week to the play-offs."
