ROWING: Those interested in trying their hand at rowing are being urged to sign up for Bewdley RC’s pub and club regatta.

The event is specially designed for newcomers to the sport to try their hand at it.

Last year 63 entries made the regatta the biggest such event in the country and organisers are hoping to attract 80 teams from pubs and clubs from across the district and beyond.

The tournament sees boats of four with little or no rowing experience taught the basics throughout May, before they compete in knockout races on Saturday, June 5.

Rowers who choose to stay on as members get the chance to race at other venues and previous participants have gone on to compete all over the country, including; The Boat Race course on the River Thames in London and even the New Danube in Vienna.

Anyone interested in taking part can go to www.bewdleyrc.co.uk to download an entry form and drop them off at the club. The entry fee is £40 per team.
