MIDFIELDER Dean Bennett is hoping that Harriers can end their home campaign in the Blue Square Premier with a win when they entertain Barrow tonight.

The Aggborough outfit are suffering from some wounded pride after Stevenage clinched the title in Worcestershire on Saturday.

While tonight's opponents are safe from relegation, the Cumbrian side contest the FA Trophy final at Wembley against Stevenage and Bennett believes they need no more motivation against Steve Burr's boys.

Harriers only played Barrow a fortnight ago, which happened to be Bennett's 350th appearance, where they lost 1-0.

He said: "Barrow are safe but they have the FA Trophy final to look forward to.

"That means everyone will be playing for places and it's going to make it a tough game.

"Our recent record against Barrow hasn't been good.

"We were unlucky at their place, when we conceded a deflected goal and had lots of chances to score.

"It would be nice to sign off from Aggborough with a win."

Burr may call upon Bennett, James Lawrie, Tom Sharpe and Marc Goodfellow for tonight's game.

Keeper Ross Atkins has been recalled to Derby County to act as back-up for Saul Deeney after Rams' first-choice Stephen Bywater picked up an injury.

Barrow are set to be without Gregg Blundell (neck), Paul Rutherford (knee) and Robin Hulbert (groin) for tonight's clash.

Bennett, who returned to Harriers in 2007 after spells at Chester and Wrexham, is one of the club's longest serving players and admits that he has a close affinity with Harriers.

He is one of a number of players out of contract at the end of the campaign and while he admits he would dearly love to play for them next season, he has no idea if he's in Burr's plans.

Bennett said: "I love the club, they've always been good to me.

"I've managed to strike up a great rapport with the fans and I have always appreciated the support.

"They recognise when someone works hard and I think they know that's what they always get from me.

"I would love to be at the club next season, but that's up to the gaffer.

"At the moment, I don't know what's happening and I'm just concentrating on the end of the season.

"I'm so proud to have made 350 appearances for the club but it could have been more.

"But I had to take the chance to play in the Football League.

"I wanted to return but the club were relegated and League clubs were looking at me.

"I almost did return, I spoke to Mark Yates but it never happened.

"My form has been a bit up and down this season.

"Mark Yates used me as a defensive midfielder and Steve Burr has used more more as an attacker.

"The one area that has let me down has is scoring goals."
